Glorious Victorious

Sophie Ellis Bextor

Energised performance by Sophie Ellis Bextor

Victorious Festival is once upon us and as usual there was no disappointment to festival goers with Primal Scream opening Victorious and Sterophonics being the headliners, James gave an amazing performance.

The weather was definitely on our side throughout the whole weekend and the festival goers where lapping up the atmosphere, Saturday gave us the full day days programme with some amazing headliners Sugababes, Ocean Colour Scene and Paolo Nutini on the Common stage and over on the Castle stage we had Bastille finishing off the night, my favourite was Sugababes they were absolutely fantastic plus it was my era and brought back some great memories, however I was looking forward to seeing Paolo Nutini but unfortunately in my own opinion I did not enjoy him at all but you can not have it your own way at a festival, the crowd were enjoying him and that is what matters.

On Sunday it took us nearly an hour and a half to get on site due to traffic so next time we will leave a lot earlier too avoid the traffic chaos, after a quick coffee we set off for a day of photographing and videoing as we arrived late we could not see The Libertines so I headed over to the Castle stage and spent the afternoon there until after Sophie Ellis Bextor who was amazing.

After Sophie Ellis Bextor I attempted to head over to the Commodify stage and I can only describe my journey as carnage, unfortunately there were loads of people trying to get into the Castle stage and just as much leaving there were people just barging passed a creating so much anxiety amongst festival goers because it felt like everyone was being crushed.

There was one woman with a young child who just frozen she was having a panic attack and people were just pushing passed her, until I told her to hold my hand and we eventually got through the crowds, I agree people were having fun but when you have idiots standing on top of the toilets and some of the festival goers encouraging them to jump and body surf this is ridiculous and dangerous, there was no crowd control and security and Marshalls were not in sight at all, one would hope the organisers will be more prepared next year, apart from this only incident the whole festival went very well yeah people had be complaining that their mobile phones did not work and suggested festival organisers had blocked the signals but that is not something I know about as I had problems with my phone too and yes it was a total pain but that’s life.

Next year we have been informed that it will be a full three day event which will be very exhausting but thrilling as it is each time I go, and I wonder who will headline perhaps even bigger artists than the last few years, organisers we have to compete with Reading Festival.
