2 min read

Between 19th and 25th September was  National Eye Health Week – a weeklong event created by Vision Matters to raise awareness for eye health and the importance of having regular eye tests. Over 1.8 million people in the UK are living with sight loss. For 53% of these, a simple sight test and new glasses could make all the difference.

The van started in Portsmouth Gunwharf Quays on the Monday then progressed onwards towards Swindon, Swansea, Leicester and it ended up in Leeds on the Friday.

Vision Express was giving out free eye tests to the public

The eye is the most complex organ of the body. It is composed of many working parts, and makes over 100,000 movements per day. As with any other organ it is important to take care of your eyes. An eye test doesn’t just test the capabilities of your vision but also the overall health of your eyes.

Some eye conditions such as Glaucoma require early diagnosis for effective treatment to prevent further sight loss. An eye test can also help identify more serious underlying conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure.

With over 100 ways to test your eyes, Vision Express offer a comprehensive eye test that comes with a sight test and full health screening. The whole process takes up to 30 minutes but could add years to your sight.

If you or a member of your family are concerned about your eye sight please contact Vision Express and book yourself a test, it could prolong the health of your eyes.

I can honestly say i was over 12 months late getting my regular test done, and i am glad i went when i did, because they found a problem with my eyes and this is why i can not stress enough in getting your eyes tested regularly.
