Losing My Sight Charity Launch
1 min readToday we had our official launch of Losing My Sight Charity which was held at The Fratton Community Centre Portsmouth, we had a fantastic turn out with 60 people attending, including Portsmouth Football Club’s ambassador Alan Knight MBE.
Our aim is to encourage working aged visually impaired and blind to gain confidence and independence so they can live as much as a normal life as possible.
We were granted £9.643.00 from The National Lottery to set up projects in Portsmouth and the surrounding areas, the projects were chosen with a theme of motivational and team building in mind, so we have set up a Fit Club which is being held every Wednesday’s between 11.30am and 12.30pm.
Other projects include Photography, Metal Detecting, and Water Sports, all of these projects are very popular and is keeping us very busy.
If anyone living in Portsmouth and the surrounding areas with sight loss issues and are of working age and you are interested please contact us for more details.
Our official launch raised £84.69 of donations and we thank everyone who attended and donated.
Our guest speakers were Brian Anderson who travels across the south doing courses about sight loss, we were also pleased to have Matt Lewsley who is a volunteer for Portsmouth In The Community, they carry out many projects in Portsmouth with the disabled and are actively seeking to set up blind football teams.
