Blues held by Robins at home
1 min readThe Robins took advantage of Portsmouth’s unorganised and chaotic defence as early as six minutes in, when their long-throw tactic presented Lewis Freestone with the ball 10 yards away from the goal. The Cheltenham defender grasped at the opportunity of grabbing his first senior goal, and Bazunu was beaten.
Similarly to Freestone, Reeco Hackett also grabbed his first goal for his team when the ball fell to his feet after Marquis’ header attempt was knuckled away by the keeper. The Pompey attacker mishit his shot, but a stroke of good luck looped the ball over the Cheltenham defenders and into an empty net.
Kyle Vassell gifted a point to the hosts when his unmarked effort from 6 yards out sailed wide of the goal.
Miguel Azeez saw some rare minutes in a Pompey shirt when he replaced Reeco Hackett in the 73rd minute, and instantly showed his explosiveness and creativity.
Final Score: Portsmouth 1 – 1 Cheltenham Town
